We will show the benefit of pulse compression by means of Barker codes and how to use it with Rohde & Schwarz instruments. The principle of Barker code transmission and reception / evaluation is explained. Using MATLAB we will prepare a vector signal generator for transmission of Barker code modulated signals. Finally the closed radar loop from baseband generation via over-the-air transmission/reception and decoding using a signal analyzer will be shown. At the end we will show how to create baseband signals directly from MATLAB. This will also be mentioned along with FM chirp signals.
